What is the best "romantic getaway" hotel in Santa Barbara, California?

Please tell me what your experience was with the place you
are naming as "best". I am planning to go with that "special person" in a couple of weeks.
We are mature adults.

    definitely don't get fooled by the beautiful website for the Hotel Oceana. It's cute, and campy, but it's not the luxury full-service hotel they make it out to be.

    There are lots of beach front (or close to the beach) condos for rent. I went for a bachelorette party and we were really just looking for a place to crash, but it ended up being extremely nice. There was a kitchen, patio with a BBQ, laundry, and it definitely had potential to be super romatic and cozy. I'd go back with someone special. walking distance to state st. and the beach.

    the website only lists weekly rates, but we definitely had a nightly rate. Worth a phone call.

    Fess Parker's Doubletree Resort in SB is very nice... right on the beach, It has a lot of amenities. However, my favorite is acttually a Bed & Breakfast in Carpinteria called Prufrock's Garden Inn. We especially liked the Garden Hideaway, since it was our honeymoon. It is a couple blocks to the beach, and very close to the shops and restaurants of Carpinteria. Check it out at www.prufrocks.com
